All About Double Cleansing; Q&A

We all know the importance of double cleanse when it comes to its success at removing heavy makeup and sunscreen. But there is even more to this! Deeply and gently cleaning the skin dissolves issues about clogged pores, skin impurities, and even acne in some cases. As a result, it has become a staple in many skin care routines worldwide, expanding beyond Korean skincare rituals.

With all those attractive benefits of a double cleanse, how can formulation make a difference in oil-based cleansers?

There are so many oil-based cleansers in the market, and when it comes to deciding which one to buy, consumers should consider several important points.

First of all, as its primary purpose, oil cleanser should be able to successfully dissolve the sebum, makeup, and sunscreen on the skin with no residue left behind. Here particular attention must be paid to selecting the oils in the formula so that they can also work on dissolving purities around and in the pores. For instance, Zero Balance Cleansing Balm has Corallina and Olive Leaf extract in its formula to target impurities around and inside the pores.

A second important point about oil-based cleansers is they should be gentler to the skin while removing impurities. Hence look for ingredients that calm the skin while excess sebum and oil are being pulled from the skin’s surface. For example, Zero Balance Cleansing Balm soothes and nourishes skin with excellent ingredients like Centella Asiatica and Grape Seed oil. They have anti-inflammatory properties that target redness while simultaneously delivering antioxidants to the epidermis. Also, one of the great things about this balm is it does not strip natural oils from your face, which may lead to dehydration.

It is excellent to know all of those details! However, some people hesitate to use cleansing balms because they think they may clog their pores. After all, it has oils inside. Can you clarify this issue?

Sure, great question. It is intuitive to think that way because some oils tend to clog pores and cleansing balms have a bunch of them in their formulation. However, the primary purpose of these oils is, as I have already explained, to dissolve the oils that sit on our skin. Cleansing balms emulsify when contacting water and turn into a milk-like structure. That way, oils on your face, either from your makeup or sunscreen, and the oils in the cleansing balm leave your skin by rinsing the product. Their antioxidant and calming effects may last, but because technically they are not present on your skin anymore, you will not get clogged pores because of cleansing balms. Indeed, the opposite is true; rightly formulated cleansing balms prevent the formation of blackheads and clogged pores. Because they do not leave any residue after you wash them off your face.

Zero Balance Cleansing Balm perfectly turns into milk and removes dirt and oil from your face. But we know that some people still want to avoid seeing specific ingredients in their products, so Resh Lab Zero Balance Cleansing Balm does not include mineral oil in its formulation.

It is a good point, though. Today’s consumers are concerned with specific ingredients like parabens or alcohol and do not want to consume such products. Does Resh Lab include any of these in its formulations?

No, it does not. Resh Lab is a vegan, clean beauty brand. Zero Balance Cleansing Balm’s formulation is alcohol, paraben, mineral oil, and sulfate free. Also, it does not test its products on animals, so cruelty-free as well. Cosmetic chemists formulated Zero Balance Cleansing Balm to be effective and gentle on the skin while considering consumer expectations. It is not an easy job to eliminate ingredients because you also need to change the other ingredients in the formula. It is a challenging process. After lab tests, we formulated Zero Balance Cleansing Balm without the specific ingredients I mentioned earlier while ensuring its quality and efficacy.

Sounds great! Thank you so much for your time. It is great to know more about cleansing balms, specifically Zero Balance Cleansing Balm.
